Ice asked: I am in organic chemistry 2. The main problem I have always had was figuring out which reagent to use. For example on a test there would be a reactant and the product and I have to fill in the blank as to which reagent to use. Is there a list of reagents and what they do? How can I learn them? It just seems so random. There is no list in my text book. Any help please?!?
Thank you in advance!

Leeenda asked: I’m measuring viscosity of molten ceramic slurries of paraffin wax and stearic acid. It can make quite a mess, and I need some kind of organic solvent to remove the bits have leaked out and cool down and solidify on the machine.
Scraping it off works, but it leaves smears.
Can anyone recommend an organic solvent? The slurries are are non-polar, so I’m assuming I’ll need a non-polar solvent. Something simple that I can “borrow” from the Chemistry lab (preferably in a squeezie bottle… you know how the common organic solvents are usually in them like Acetone and IPA…)
Acetone doesn’t work… Toluene? Heptane?

Diana D asked: I tried googling, but the results aren’t so helpful.
I am doing a project where I have to research a certain organic compound for chemistry class that is in some sort of substance. I want to do tea but I am unsure what the makeup of tea is. Can someone give me a list of organic compounds that exist? Thanks!

Jess asked: I have this question for a lab.
Carbon-14 is used by archeologist to date organic material. What two reasons C-14 is used for this process?

sar5 asked: I got an A in General Chemistry I and II, but I don’t think we had a good teacher. I don’t think we learned everything we should have learned. We learned about balancing equations and did a bunch of calculations. We didn’t learn about the Louis structures at all. How important is it to have a good background in General Chemistry to do well in Organic Chemistry? I’m a biology major (junior year) and I really need to do well in Organic.
