Where I live they still plough the fields using oxen and other animals are used in the harvesting. It is just like a step back in time. These days organic food is grown using machinery, combine harvesters and tractors. Can it be truly called organic when we use fuel driven machinery.
Cyrus: this type of farming has nothing to do with Amish, it is just a way of life for certain farmers. There are no Amish in Andalucia.

Silver Tipped Wings asked:

I would love to be a vegetarian, because I have heard really bad things about how they treat animals. Unfortunetly, at my age, my parents would think it is some kind of rebellion (Which is kind of would be, but it would be against cruelty to animals, not against my parents.)

I was wondering, is there such a thing as organic meat? What I mean is, meat that isn’t treated with chemicals, where the animals aren’t stuffed into cages and are allowed to be free and live happy lives?

I am looking for alternatives so I don’t feel so guilty when I enjoy eating meat. Would it be in the organic section of the food store?

What do you think is better- organic jarred baby food or homemade non organic?

Nanook of the North-Canadian Gal asked:

I was mulling this over in my head and couldn’t decide which would be better! (Where I live in rural Canada there is some organic produce, but a very limited supply, and it usually looks half rotten. So there’s no variety and it’s really, really not fresh.)

What are your thoughts?

If I am a vegetarian and I eat organic lettuce that was grown in fish guts, am I still vegetarian?

My friend worked on an organic farm and said that lots of crops were grown with fish guts instead of fertilizer. That’s gross. If it’s grown in fish guts will it taste like fish? Gross.

My 4 year old daughter LOVES Kellog’s Apple Jacks cereal, but I don’t like feeding them to her because they’re loaded with sugar, preservatives and other crap. Does anyone know of a natural or organic cereal similar to Apple Jacks that she might like?

Thanks in advance for all of your suggestions.

Alice asked:

I was wondering, because I know some cows are milked by uncomfortable machines daily and some egg laying chickens live cramped lives. Do organic and free range mean they’re treated humanely and have a comfortable, happy life?

Also, if I owned my own chickens and cows, would I be able to obtain milk and eggs from them without making them uncomfortable?

Intelligent answers only, please. Don’t be rude.

I’ve been reading up on the dangerous levels of pesticide in many of our foods. I eat lots of food containing fresh cilantros, but I’m worried if I should be buying them organic. Don’t stores usually sell them organic, live avocados?

mookiemonkee asked:

My family and I are “ovo-lacto” vegetarians and are thinking about making the transition to a vegan lifestyle. Our only problem is finding only ORGANIC cheese substitutes. We can live without the occasional egg, but we really like cheese and use it in a few dishes. The organic cheese we currently buy is from Trader Joe’s or from Organic Valley.

I know Road’s End Organics has something called Chreeze, which is vegan. Are there any other organic cheese substitutes??

Thanks in advance!
