Do the companies that sell organic milk butcher cows?

I am a vegetarian, meaning I eat plant based products and milk. I heard about how the milk industry mistreat cows and so started using organic dairy products. However I want to know if the cows that are certified to give organic milk, are they allow to die a natural death or are they butchred for meat well before their natural lifespan like most non-organic cows.

Yeah, once they get old enough, 4 or so, they sell them to slaughter. Don’t drink milk man, it is for baby cows, not people. It has blood and puss in it…………just buy rice dream or almond milk, so much better anyways, you know? Eric

Yes, as far as I am aware the majority of farms (including organic) will kill cows when they are no longer producing enough milk. Also, males are not needed for production of milk, so one or two are kept for breeding purposes but the vast majority will also be killed as it would be a “waste of resources” to keep them alive.
Unfortunately “organic” does not mean “ethical”… Hazel

Organic doesn’t mean humane.
Once a cow is no longer able to produce milk at a volume that the dairy wants, they are sold to a cow-killing company where they are butchered and turned into Big Macs.
Small private low production farms may do things differently, but it’s not economically feasable to keep a bunch of old cows around eating food and not producing anything. Moxie

Besides the fate of the milk cows what do you think happens to the male calves the give birth to. Usually veal. LisaC
