What’s a book that you would recommend that would serve as a good reference for a lot of the organic reaction mechanisms that you would see in undergraduate level organic chemistry classes (Organic I and II)? Thanks very much for your time!

I have noticed this a lot on organic apples and it keeps me from wanting to buy them because it looks like something that has been put on them and then cleaned off. Anyone know what it is?

I am planning to get a tattoo in the very near future and after doing a little research, I’ve learned that a lot of tattoo ink can contain toxic chemicals. There is no way of finding out what the ingredients are since the companies do not need to disclose this information.

Normally, the ingredients of tattoo inks would not be a concern; however, I am [what some people would call me] a “health-nut/tree hugger” and do not want to put anything in or on my body which could pose a hazardous risk.

So far, the only companies I’ve found that use organic ingredients are Starbrite, Eternal and Stable. Does this mean these companies use natural, earth-based ingredients? Or do they still use some of the same ingredients the other companies use?

Thanks to all who answer.

Can organic foods be proven scientifically they are organic or is this just an advertising gimick?

I have never seen any scientific evidence that organic foods are better. All I see is a lot of hype and a higher price tag.
Remember, I’m looking for scientific evidence, not just what people think.

How important do you think it is to feed your baby organic food?

monicow asked:

I’ve been reading articles lately about how preservatives in food cause little girls to mature faster. Girls are getting breasts/their periods earlier and earlier (as early as age 7 or 8!) and it is being linked to chemicals/preservatives in a lot of food these days…

Do you feed your baby only organic food? Do you think it really makes a big difference? Or is it more for peace of mind that you do it?
